Gooderham & Worts

The Gooderham and Worts Distillery is the heart of the Distillery District and is Toronto’s newest Arts & Entertainment area. Central in the old Distillery is the cooperage, converted into 400 studios for a variety of artists, from photographers to dance studios. The surrounding buildings have been converted to a variety of commercial enterprises, from trendy décor shops, bakeries to upscale eateries and bars. It has also become home to Toronto’s newest Jazz Festival. Over 200 movies have been shot around the Distillery, and it is just north of the new Studio District and just east of the St. Lawrence Market.

The low-rise condos were constructed with podiums of the original rack houses on Mill St. and reflect their industrial heritage. They quickly became popular with owners who wanted a quiet street, close to the arts area and with low maintenance fees, for those not being particularly interested in costly amenities such as pools and gym areas. A third building was constructed on the property at 39 Parliament St., across from Parliament Square Park and maintains the same simplicity and community feeling. The buildings are pet friendly with lots of walking and park areas, close to the downtown core, steps to the lake, Transit, DVP and the Gardiner.
